SRI SAI NRITHYALAYA
Gopalakrishna Bharathi, an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva, was a Tamil poet who composed the famous 'Nandanar Charitram'. We have taken few songs from his famous work, and retold the story of Nandhanar through our dance drama. Nandan, a farmer by profession and a devotee of Lord Shiva by body and soul, prayed and propogated good living by praising the lord to his fellow villagers all the time. This dance drama revolves around how Nandan sought the permission of his Landlord, Vedhiyar, to go to Chidambaram to see Thillai Nataraja Temple which was his long-cherished dream, the struggles that he faced during this process and how he unified with the Lord Himself.
Om Namah Shivaya! Shiva Purana is all about the Science that has been very beautifully expressed through stories. It primarily centers around the Hindu God Shiva and Goddess Parvati, but references and reveres all Gods. In ancient days, people enjoyed the sacred sports/leels of the Lord through stage drama, stories, spiritual conversations and various other means. Later, few stories were also depicted through Indian Films. But in this fast lifestyle, these divine stories are beyond the reach of knowledge for present generation. Hence this dance drama is an outcome of our sincere effort to deliver few stories of Lord Shiva to the public.
"Navarasa Nayaki" is a dance drama that illustrates the Navarasa Bhavams portrayed by goddess Angayarkanni (Meenakshi) through different stories. When Meenakshi appeared from the sacrificial fire during the “Puthrakameshti Yagam" performed by the King Malayadhvaja Pandian, a heavenly voice asks the King to bring her up like a prince and teach her the art of warfare and make her his heir, and proclaims that when Meenakshi Meets the man she is destined to marry, she would fall prey to all womanly feelings that were until then unknown to her.
Tiruppugazh, composed by saint poet Arunagirinathar, is unique because it brings before us the image of Lord Muruga in full splendour and glory, and bestows us the abounding grace of Lord Muruga. Among many saints who guided humanity to the path of perfection, His songs not only sparks the flame of devotion in the minds of people but also the light of knowledge in the intellect. He showed the way to the life of virtue and righteousness. He showed the way to the Lotus Feet of Muruga, which is what we have inculcated in this thematic presentation.
